  • Dade County residents voted in favor of continuing the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (S.P.L.O.S.T.) 1216 to 310. 16.18% of the registered voters turned out for Tuesday's election.

    Drama Team Takes First Place in Region 6-AA

    Drama Team Takes First Place in Region 6-AA

    The Dade County High School Drama Team took first place at the recent Region 6-AA competition with their performance of "The Shape of the Grave," a play written by Laura Lungren Smith especially for DCHS. The play is about the 1970's IRA rebellion in Ireland.

    Left to Right - Laura Gronek (All-Star Cast), Dustin Wilson (All-Star Cast), and Samantha Carrick (Best Actress) Samantha Carrick received was named Best Actress in Region 6-AA. Laura Gronek and Dustin Wilson were picked for the All-Star Cast.

    The Wolverines will participate at the state level on November 12 in Gray, Georgia near Macon.

    The play will be presented to the public on Saturday, November 19th at 7:00 PM and Sunday, November 20th at 2:30 PM. Students in the Dade County Schools will have an opportunity to see the play on Monday, November 21st and Tuesday, November 22nd.

    Dr. Pat Taylor, director of the group says, "It is a serious play, but very entertaining and thought-provoking." Please come out and support the cast and crew during one of the public performances.
