  • A Tribute to Steve Ruff

    A Tribute to Steve Ruff

    Steve Ruff
On Thursday, November 17th, family, friends, and colleagues of Mr. Steve Ruff joined Dade Elementary School teachers, parents, and students as they dedicated the Steve Ruff Conference Room in memory of their past DES principal.

A welcome was given by Mrs. Cherie Swader, current DES principal, followed by an invocation by Mr. Byron Ballard, DES assistant principal. Mr. Charles Johnston, former Superintendent of the Dade County School System, then spoke of his memories of his close friend Steve Ruff.

Following the guest speaker, Mrs. April Goode, former Dade County student and current DES teacher paid a special tribute to Steve Ruff. Mrs. Swader presented the plaque that will hang outside the new building's conference room. Mrs. Jennifer Blevins' 5th grade class, led by Mrs. Carolyn O'Malley offered musical selections for the dedication. The ceremony was closed by Mrs. Darlene Rogers.

Steve Ruff was more than an exceptional principal.

He was a very unique individual with the ability to educate, nurture, respect, humor, and appreciate each student.

He will be remembered fondly and hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew him.
