Dade County Places 2nd in Literary Events
Dade County recently placed 2nd in Region 6AA Literary Events at Georgia Highlands College (formerly Floyd College).
Calhoun took 1st place with 62 points; Dade had 51 points and two schools tied for 3rd with only 20 points each. There were a total of nine schools entered.
Placing 1st for Dade County:
- Girls' Trio - Shaina Moore, Kerry Adkins, Christine Core
- Boys' Spelling - Ryan Lawson
- Girls' Essay - Sarah Powell

UPDATE: Of those advancing to the state-level competition, Ryan Lawson (Boys' Spelling) and the Girls' Trio (Shaina Moore, Kerry Adkins, and Christine Core) each placed 3rd!

- Boys' Quartet - Nick Bowden, Carter McCormick, Ryan Dobbs, Nathan Reeves
- Girls' Dramatic Interpretation - Samantha Carrick
- Boys' Solo - Dustin Wilson
- Girls' Spelling - Savannah Clark
- Girls' Solo - Shaina Moore
Placing 3rd for Dade County:
- Girls' Extemporaneous Speaking - Megan Patton
Placing 4th for Dade County:
- Boys' Essay - Ryan Lawson
- Boys' Extemporaneous Speaking - Justin Clayton
All music participants were coached by Kathy Adkins. Other literary coaches were Betty LaMance, Pat Taylor, and Linda Wilson.
