Lori Moore, Wal-Mart Region Teacher of the Year
Tuesday was an eventful morning at Dade County High School, particularly in the Computer Applications classroom. As DCHS teacher, Lori Moore, prepared for class, a large group of individuals entered her room.
The group consisted of representatives from the local newspapers, a film crew from Channel 3 Eyewitness News, members of the DCHS administration team, several members of Moore's family, a group of Venture Crew members, and seven representatives of the the Wal-Mart Corporation.
Mrs. Moore was selected as the Wal-Mart Regional Teacher of the Year based on a nomination of students, Ashley and Rachel Wilson. The students nominated Moore because she is readily available to give extra help (such as tutoring) after school and for volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America.
Caesar Avalos, store manager of the new Supercenter on Cummings Highway, made the presentation. Dade County High School received a check for $1000 and Mrs. Moore received a Wal-Mart gift card for $100.
