I married Earl Shadrick in 1972. We had four children together: one daughter and three sons. I studied in France from 1971-1972. I graduated from Lee University with a BA in 1973. I began working for Dade County Schools as a substitute in 1976. In 1978, I did a short stint as secretary at Northwest Georgia High School before taking a position as English and French teacher that fall. I also taught the Spanish classes until the 1987. I earned my MA and Ed.S. from the University of Alabama in 1993 and 1996. I lost my husband to cancer of the pancreas in February 2003. Also in 2003, I took early retirement from Dade County Schools to take the principal position at Mountain View Christian Academy in Bryant, Alabama. I held that position for three years then returned to the classroom full time at MVCA. After teaching five more years, I again retired to move to Orange Beach and help my daughter and her husband by homeschooling their three school-age children. In addition to supervising my three granddaughters, I teach history, English, and Spanish to a group of homeschoolers every Tuesday. In 2009, I began working on my doctorate at Pensacola Christian College. I have completed all course work and am currently working on my dissertation. I expect to have earned my Ed.D. by 2014.
