Alex Davidson, a third grader in Mrs. Tammie Woods' class at Dade Elementary School recently competed in an area Karate Tournament, held in Memphis, Tennessee.

Alex won a silver medal in the 9-10 year old beginners Kata and Sparring events as well as a bronze in the practice rounds. This qualifies Alex to participate the USA National Karate tournament to be held in West Virginia in July.

Alex has participated in Karate for less than one year and earned his yellow belt in December 2006. Alex will be interviewed by Channel 12 News for his accomplishment as the second individual with autism to qualify for the national tournatment.

Alex is the son of Randal and Lisa Davidson of Rising Fawn. Lisa Davidson is a science instructor at Dade County High School.
