Dade County Cyclists Compete in Tour de Georgia Preliminary Event
On Wednesday, April 18, 2007, the Tour de Georgia rolled through Dade County. As a part of Stage 3 of the event, the Dade County Chamber of Commerce sponsored the Burkhalter Gap Amateur Sprint in the afternoon prior to the Tour's King of the Mountain (KOM) Event.
Several Dade County Cyclists were entered in the Chamber-sponsored event, including: John Castleberry, Chip Greene, Chris Greene, Nick Lawson, and Randy Lawson.
All proceeds of the event benefited the Dade County Animal Shelter. The winner of the race was awarded $100.00 for posting the best time.
Nick Lawson is an eighth grade student at Dade Middle School. Chris Greene is a Technology Specialist for the Dade County School System.
