Dade Takes 1st Place at 2008 Region 7-AA Literary Events

On Tuesday, March 4, 2008, Dade County High School students competed in the Region 7-AA Literary Events Meet at Pepperell High School in Rome, Georgia. The Dade County students brought home the first place trophy with Calhoun High School placing as the runner-up.

First place finishers at the meet were Ben Wheeler (Boys' Essay), Glynne Emmett (Girls' Essay), and Sarah Chapman (Girls' Solo). These students competed at the state level on March 15th in Warner Robins where Glynne Emmett placed FIRST in Girls' Essay and Ben Wheeler placed fourth in Boys' Essay).

At region, second place medals went to Ryan Dobbs (Boys' Solo), Brittany New (Girls' Extemporaneous Speaking), Cole Adkins, Ryan Dobbs, Ethan Fortner, and Logan Walker (Boys' Quartet).

Also representing Dade County were Lauren Wildman, Lindsay Lay, and Stehanie Avery (Girls' Trio), Josh Ridley (Extemporaneous Speaking), Nick Bowden and Hailey Stockman (Dramatic Interpretation).

The students were accompanied to Literary Events by Linda Wilson (Literary Coordinator), Gabrielle Haston (Chorus Instructor), and Ryan Dixon (student teacher).
