MyPyramid Art Contest Held

Second grade students at Davis Elementary School participated in an art contest sponsored by the Dade County School Nutrition Program.

The contest not only illustrated the artistic ability of the students but these students were able to demonstrate their knowledge of healthy living as they explained "MyPyramid" to a panel of judges.

MyPyramid is an interactive Internet tool used to assist Americans in the quest to live healthier lives.

The top ten artists were chosen by a judging panel based on their art work. During an interview, the finalists were given the chance to explain to the judges the purpose of the pyramid. The finalists also answered questions about their illustrations and its value to good health.

The grand prize winner of the art contest, Dylan Clark (pictured above with his art work) won a cross country bicycle.

Congratulations to all of the artists who participated. They worked hard and can now live healthier because they are more informed.

The art work can be viewed in the Davis Elementary School Cafeteria. For more information on MyPyramid, visit http://www.mypyramid.gov.
