Our Treehouse Our Tree House is being used as an instrument to promote reading as well as good behavior. Teachers can send up to three well-behaved students a week to the library with a tree house pass. Each pass is good for 15 minutes of reading.
As a part of our Georgia Performance Standards, all students must read 1,000,000 words by the end of the fifth grade. In order to meet this goal, we have developed our reading incentive program. As part of this program, we have created a display in our library showcasing students' names who meet the reading goals of 25, 50, 75, and 100 books this year. Students' names are written on little bugs and "climb" up the tree display as the students read and meet the goals. Students who meet the goal of 100 books by the end of the year will get a special prize.
