Matt Sweat
Hi! My name is Matt Sweat and I grew up in Southeast Georgia where I got my associates degree in History at South Georgia State College. I continued my education at Georgia College in Milledgeville where I got my bachelors and masters degrees in English Literature. More importantly, Milledgeville is where I met my wife Sarah.
After college I moved back to my hometown of Alma to start my teaching career at Bacon County High School where I taught 9th, 10th and 12th grade English. After these two years were up I finished my GaTAPPS training, passed my EDTPA test, and moved to the Chattanooga area to be with my wife and to start teaching at Dade County High School in 2016.
Since starting teaching at Dade County High School I’ve taught 10th and 12th Grade English, AP Lit, and AP Lang and I’m still enjoying it to this day.
My son Alex and my dog Luna are the majority of my life outside of school. My wife is pretty cool too. I don’t have a Subaru even though I’ve lived in Chattanooga for 6 years and I take that as a mark of pride.
