Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Alicia B. Bell
My name is Alicia Bell and I will be teaching 7th grade mathematics this year at Dade Middle School! The 2018-2019 academic year is my first as a Georgia educator so while I am bringing many years of experience from Alabama, I have the energy and excitement of a first year teacher.
I graduated from Auburn University in 1993 with a degree in Accounting. I knew I wanted to become a teacher so I stayed at Auburn an additional year to earn a Master’s in Secondary Mathematics Education. I attended Jacksonville State University in 2003 to add administration to my certification, and finally in 2016, I attended the University of West Alabama for an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership.
I began my career in education at Arab High School in Arab, Alabama. I taught Algebra 1A, Algebra 1B, Algebra I and Applied mathematics from 1994 -1998 and coached basketball, volleyball, tennis and golf. I transitioned to Scottsboro High School in Scottsboro, Alabama in the fall of 1998 and remained in that system until this summer when I retired from Alabama. During my tenure in Scottsboro, I taught Algebra 1A, Algebra 1B, Algebra II, Consumer Math, Math in Society, Algebraic Connections, and Algebra with Finance. I also coached golf, basketball, volleyball and swim as well as spent six years in administration.
I am married to Brett Bell (23 years) and we have two daughters, Courtney (18) and Carley (16). Courtney is a freshman at the University of North Alabama and Carley is a junior at Scottsboro High School. Our family attends St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Scottsboro.
Classroom Learning Targets for 2018-2019
The learning targets that I have set for each student assigned to my classes and for myself personally are to develop and strengthen friendships and to better understand the standards for mathematical practice for our grade level and content. Daily learning targets will be created and explained for each mathematical concept.
I have an open door policy so please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I will be happy to correspond in the manner best for you whether face-to-face, phone, or email. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org and the DMS phone number is 706-657-6491 if you wish to talk or set up a meeting.
It’s great to be a member of the DMS team!
