    Press Release - GaDOE Releases 2022 CCRPI Reports

    Today, the Georgia Department of Education released the 2022 CCRPI report indicators. These indicators will serve as a post-pandemic baseline rather than a comparison of past schools’ performance. Given the impact of pandemic-related data limitations on states’ accountability systems, the U.S. Department of Education approved Georgia’s one-year modifications to CCRPI. The most significant change for the 2022 CCRPI was the elimination of a Summative Rating calculation.

    Press Release - Dade County Schools Facilities Update

    Recently, the Dade County School District received Requests for Proposals (RFP) for the Davis Elementary building addition specifying the scope of work for the construction project. After reviewing the proposals for the 100% locally funded project, the total costs, which included existing kitchen repairs, exceeded $4.3 million.

    Press Release - Davis Elementary Named A GaDOE Title I Distinguished School

    The Georgia Department of Education has released the list of 2021-2022 Title I Distinguished Schools. The Title I Distinguished schools includes those that have the highest achievement rate based on combined ELA and Math scores on the annual Georgia Milestones End of Grade Assessments. A Title I Distinguished School is also among the top 5% of the Title I schools in the state of Georgia.

    Press Release - Dade County High School Graduation Rate - 2022

    The Georgia Department of Education released the 2022 four and five-year graduation rates to the public earlier today. Dade County High School's four-year graduation rate of 91.46% is a favorable increase over the 2021 rate of 84.1%.

    UPDATED - Press Release - Unloaded Gun found at DCHS (Message from Superintendent)

    As stated in the press release earlier this morning, at approximately 8:10AM, a black case that contained an unloaded handgun was located under a shelf at Dade County High School. The teacher immediately notified the DCHS Administration and the School Resource Officer (SRO).

    Dade County Schools (DCS) continues to work each day to promote safe and healthy learning environments for our students.  Due to the increase in COVID-19 data for positive cases, close contact quarantines, and with the current student absentee rate of 20%, this makes teaching new content standards difficult.

    Press Release - Nationwide TikTok Threat

    Dade County Families:  Dade County Schools (DCS) has been made aware of a nationwide viral threat circulating on the social media platform, Tik Tok. The viral threat calls on students to commit acts of school violence on December 17, 2021, however, no specific school or school district has been identified.  We are NOT aware of any threats specific to DCS.

    Press Release - Dade County Moves First Day of School to August 13, 2020

    Dr. Jan Irons Harris, Superintendent, announced, “After much deliberation, the start date for Dade County’s students will be August 13th for all students.  The original first day of school was set for August 7th. All other dates remain correct as shown on the official 2020-2021 Calendar.” Open House dates will be held on August 5th and 6th as previously scheduled.

    Press Release - Dade County Schools Closure March 16 – 27, 2020

    The shared goal of the Dade County Board of Education, Superintendent and Team is to keep our students and their families safe. At this time, the Dade County School District does NOT have any suspected or confirmed cases of the coronavirus in our schools or offices. I established a health task force that is working closely with the Georgia Department of Education, the Office of Governor Brian Kemp, the Georgia Department of Public Health, and the Dade County Health Department. We are continually receiving guidance on steps we can take to minimize the risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19.

    Press Release - Dade County Students Score Above the GA Average CCRPI Score and All Schools Earn Five Star Climate Rating

    The College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) scores were released today by the Georgia Department of Education. The CCRPI is Georgia’s statewide accountability measurement as required by the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

    Press Release - Accident

    We are saddened to announce that three of our students at Dade County High School were involved in an automobile accident last night, October 3, 2019, at approximately 6:20 p.m. One student, Alexis Moore, age 17, lost her life in that tragic crash, and the other students are in the hospital seeking medical attention at this time.

    Dade County High School Graduation Rates - 2019

    The Georgia State Department of Education released the 2019 four and five-year graduation rates yesterday to the public. The Dade County High School four-year percentage rate of 80.71 is a decrease from last year’s 92.19 rate. However, DCHS did see an increase in its five-year graduation rate.

    Dade County Welcomes New Football Coach Dale Pruitt

    The Dade County Board of Education concluded the hunt for a new football coach today. Dade County Superintendent, Dr. Jan Irons Harris, announced that Coach Dale Pruitt will be joining the Dade County team as Head Football Coach and faculty member at Dade County High School.

    Dade County Schools Earns 2018 Constant Contact All Star Award

    The Dade County Board of Education has been named a 2018 All Star Award winner by Constant Contact, an Endurance International Group company and a leader in small business marketing solutions. The annual award recognizes the most successful 10 percent of Constant Contact’s customer base, based on their significant achievements using email marketing to engage their customer base and drive results for their organization during the prior year.

    Creative Solar USA Installs Solar Panels on the Roof of Dade County High School

    Trenton, GA – Creative Solar USA has completed its installation of a solar generation facility on the roof of Dade County High School.

    A grant from the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority helped pay the upfront cost of solar equipment that will extend the school’s energy conservation efforts. The 60-kilowatt installation is part of ongoing improvements that reduce energy, utility costs and greenhouse gas emissions in school operations. Earlier efforts included a new energy-efficient HVAC system for the school and LED lights, said Dr. Jan Harris, superintendent of Dade County Schools.

    Safety Further Enhanced with Incident Management System in Dade County Schools

    Dade County Superintendent, Dr. Jan Harris, announced today that a Press Conference will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Dade County High School Auditorium to reveal the new Incident Managment System in Dade County Schools.

    In response to the needs of Dade County Schools, South Western Communications worked closely with Dade County Safety Personnel and created an Incident Management System that took an already well-designed, well-executed safety plan and used technology to drastically reduce response times in the event of a crisis.” Safety Director Josh Ingle noted, “The Incident Management System has daily functions that improve the communication throughout the individual schools and the entire district.”

    Dade Middle School Cross Country Course and Access Road

    On August 30, 2018, a Ribbon Cutting was held at Dade Middle School for the new cross county course and access road, built by Ron McBryar Excavation. The cost of the project was $82,500 for the cross country course and $356,493 for the access road.

    Dr. Jan Harris, Superintendent, said, “We thank the citizens of Dade County for their support."
