Mr. Phil Bell

I was born in Oklahoma to a military family which moved 26 times in a 20 year career, from Virginia to California, Puerto Rico to Thailand.  After my dad retired from the US Army, I moved with my family to Puerto Rico where my parents were Baptist church-planting missionaries for over 30 years.  I graduated from the American School in Chicago, IL with my high school diploma and enrolled at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN, graduating in 1987 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Bible.  I married my wife, Lisa, in 1988 and we were missionaries in Puerto Rico from 1990 until 2006, when I became a regional director with Awana International, overseeing the expansion of Awana clubs in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.  It was during that time that I began substitute teaching at Dade County and Lisa began working first as a special ed parapro, and then a certified Sp. Ed. teacher in our county system.  I also began working on  my MAT in secondary education from Liberty University and was hired as a Spanish teacher at Dade County High School.  I graduated with my master’s degree in 2012 and have been working at DCHS ever since.  Along with teaching, I have enjoyed coaching middle school soccer, high school cross country and track and field, and driving a bus whenever needed.  All six of our sons and two of our daughters in law are graduates of DCHS.  We are looking forward to retiring from the Dade County school system and growing old in our hometown of Trenton, GA.
