Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Alicia B. Bell
My name is Alicia Bell and I am blessed to teach 8th grade mathematics and Algebra I at Dade Middle School! I have an open door policy so please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns anytime. It’s great to be a member of the DMS team!
I am married to Brett Bell (25 years) and we have two daughters, Courtney (20) and Carley (18). Courtney is a junior at Auburn University and Carley is a freshman at Auburn University at Montgomery. Our family attends St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Scottsboro.
I graduated from Auburn University in 1993 with a degree in Accounting. I knew I wanted to become a teacher so I stayed at Auburn an additional year to earn a Master’s in Secondary Mathematics Education. I attended Jacksonville State University in 2003 to add administration to my certification, and finally in 2016, I attended the University of West Alabama for an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership.
I began my career in education at Arab High School in Arab, Alabama. I taught Algebra 1A, Algebra 1B, Algebra I, and Applied mathematics from 1994 -1998 and coached basketball, volleyball, tennis, and golf. I transitioned to Scottsboro High School in Scottsboro, Alabama in the fall of 1998 and remained in that system until my retirement in July 2018. During my tenure in Scottsboro, I taught Algebra 1A, Algebra 1B, Algebra II, Consumer Math, Math in Society, Algebraic Connections, and Algebra with Finance. I also coached golf, basketball, volleyball, and swim as well as spent six years in administration. I began teaching at Dade Middle School in the fall of 2018. Currently, I teach 8th grade math and Algebra I and serve as the assistant volleyball coach. Go Wolverines!
